Dr. Goldberg has advanced post-doctoral training in pediatric and adult clinical neuropsychology. She specializes in diagnosis of children, adolescents, and adults with a range of presenting complaints. Regardless of the type of evaluation, Dr. Goldberg uses reliable, standardized measures and tests to determine psychological, neuropsychological, and adaptive functioning.
Dr. Goldberg's evaluations are designed to identify specific cognitive and emotional dysfunction that may be responsible for a person's behavioral or thinking problems. Based on results of individualized, non-invasive testing procedures, Dr. Goldberg's reports provide valuable information about a patient's brain functioning (cognitive and psychological) to physicians, patients, parents, and families in order to assist in treatment and service planning.
In cases of traumatic brain injury, disability, stroke, or dementia, a series of evaluations can determine whether changes in a patient's functioning are occurring over time. It is not always necessary to conduct serial evaluations; for diagnostic purposes, one evaluation is typically sufficient.
Medico-legal evaluations for disability, employability, personal injury, or related issues are also available. Dr. Goldberg has expertise in assessing the credibility of symptom reports made by patients alleging disabling cognitive impairments and/or chronic back pain. She can provide expert witness opinions in cases of civil litigation for plaintiff or defense counsel, or by order of the court.
Psycho-educational testing is another important area of specialized assessment that identifies the presence of developmental, specific learning, or attention disorders. Dr. Goldberg's psycho-educational test reports provide valuable treatment and academic service recommendations. Such testing aids in maximizing academic achievement, which is an important predictor of healthy functioning in adulthood.
