Therapeutic Modalities

Dr. Goldberg is trained in evidence based classic and current therapeutic modalities. Her personal therapeutic style is eclectic and combines techniques from a number of techniques that have been shown in research to be effective in treating a range of psychological disorders, facilitating behavioral change, and optimizing emotional functioning. All interventions and treatment plans are individualized based on each person's specific needs, concerns, presenting problems and lifestyle demands.

In therapy sessions, Dr. Goldberg focuses on increasing the patient's self awareness and understanding of how ones thoughts influence emotions and behavior (Cognitive and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies). She utilizes techniques from Brief Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic, Self-Awareness, Dialectical, and Long-Term Deep Therapy methods as indicated, based on the psychological functioning and practical needs of the patient. She is particularly sensitive to the influence of culture and ethnicity on emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. Dr. Goldberg works collaboratively with her patients to set and achieve therapeutic goals.

When working with children or adolescents, she works concurrently with their parents, teaching behavior, emotion, and stress management strategies and skills. She provides information designed to increase parents understanding of normal behavioral, emotional, and cognitive development. Her ultimate goal is to educate and train patients to become "their own therapist".
